Global Media Watchdog says 52 Journalists Killed This Year
Journalists around the world risk their lives for reporting and the world’s oldest global media watchdog says 52 journalists lost their lives while on duty in the first eight months of this year.
During the opening ceremony of the International Press Institute World Congress Alison Bethel McKenzie, interim director of IPI said journalists continue to lose their lives to attacks by militants and paid thugs.
The Americas was ranked as the most dangerous region, where 20 journalists were killed through August 10 of which were killed in Mexico, alone.
