Electricity shortfall reaches up to 5,000 megawatts

KARACHI: The electricity shortfall in the country reached up to 5,000 megawatts on Sunday despite it being a holiday, according to reports.
According to the Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, currently the demand for electricity in the country was 16,662 megawatts, where as production was 11,725 megawatts.
Due to the shortfall, cities have been experiencing eight to 10 hours of load-shedding, while the rural areas have been receiving 14 to 16 hours of power cuts. – DawnNews
